Gratitude for Time and Space for Wellness

I have returned from guiding a wellness retreat weekend in Asheville with a wonderful group of women who were eager to dedicate some time to themselves, explore movement, and develop or enhance their wellness practices.

As I reflect on the weekend, I am struck by how moving the experience was not just for the participants, but as the facilitator as well. I have spent the better part of my career mentoring others and it is always profound when a new group comes together and takes a journey of self discovery together.

During this weekend of wellness, the participants took part in a number of activities that can significantly enhance both mental and physical well-being. These activities included Pilates mat classes, Ortho-Bionomy, Thai massage, breath work and journaling; all designed to provide a holistic approach to health, focusing not just on physical fitness but also on emotional balance, spiritual growth, and overall life satisfaction. This break from the daily grind and regular routine allowed these women to recharge and reflect on their personal goals and challenges.

Our location in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains right outside of Asheville, NC only served to enhance the overall experience. Being in nature has been shown to have calming effects on the mind and body, reducing stress levels and promoting a sense of well-being. We were blessed with the perfect weather allowing us to have many of the classes and workshops outdoors while the beautiful spring time nature was exploding with color all around us. We also had the opportunity to spend a some of our time giving back to the community with a trash pick up along the French Broad River, an area that received tremendous damage during hurricane Helene and that has still not fully recovered.

I have profound gratitude for being able to facilitate wellness retreats. The space created is one of safety and support, where participants can express themselves freely and share their journeys without judgment. By sharing experiences and challenges with others who have similar interests, connections are formed that can evolve into enduring friendships and support networks beyond the retreat.

I was deeply moved by the vulnerability shown and the support exchanged throughout our weekend. I continue to be inspired by the transformations that occur during these gatherings, as individuals often leave with renewed perspectives, tools for personal development, and a deeper understanding of themselves and their needs. Witnessing this growth fills me with immense joy and reinforces my commitment to facilitating these retreats, as I believe they play a vital role in promoting holistic health and well-being in our fast-paced world.

I loved being a presenter and participant. It was an incredible weekend in a beautiful, peaceful environment and the food was healthy and delicious! The opportunity to share my love of Thai bodywork and also to learn about Ortho-Bionomy was perfection for me. I look forward to next year!

This was truly an amazing experience. Having an instructor who is touch with such calming energy, not pushing but encouraging you. Being in that setting was exciting.

A wonderful opportunity to disconnect from your daily stressors and meet new friends who share your same concerns and wellness moments. This retreat enhanced both my physical and mental health. Don't miss out on the next chance to attend.
