Hemisphere Dancer Wellness and Travel, specializes in offering private and semi-private Pilates reformer classes, in person and virtual mat classes, along with specialized workshops for dancers and other Pilates or wellness professionals.

What is Pilates
Created in the early 20th Century by Joseph Pilates, this mind-body (somatic) practice is a dynamic way to build core strength, improve flexibility, and enhance balance, coordination, and muscle endurance.
Using his background in boxing, Greco-Roman calisthenics, and gymnastics, he began working with injured soldiers in WWII by connecting springs and pulleys to hospital beds. The soldiers used this apparatus to be able to begin the rehab process sooner and experienced less muscle atrophy. The Pilates equipment that he created continues to use springs in the same way as his early work with the soldiers. He originally called his work 'Contrology' because of the mindful focus on the breath and the control of body that is emphasized.

Led by Angela Gallo, a master trainer with over 20 years of experience, the classes or individual sessions cater to all levels of fitness. Angela also specializes in creating specific training programs for dancers or athletes and also working with clients on injury prevention and rehabilitation.
